TELECOMMUNICATIONS - TEK 592 Red Box Detector

The Model 592 Red Box Detector continuously monitors the handset to detect "Red Box" generated coin tones. The Model 592 is a line powered device which typically installs in the upper housing of the payphone. When installed, the Model 592 will prevent fraudulent coin calls attempted with a "Red Box" device.   TEK 592 Red Box Detector

"RED BOX" DEVICES ARE EVERYWHERE
"Red Box" fraud is still very popular. In fact, a search of the internet for pages with "Red Box" will reveal hundreds of sites that include detailed instructions on how to build a "Red Box", places to purchase a "Red Box", and even ways to fraud electronic operators. Coin call fraud remains very extensive and very expensive for payphone providers.

STOP "RED BOX" FRAUD AND INCREASE REVENUES
The Model 592 Red Box Detector is active for the entire duration of every call. Any coin tone simulations that are attempted to be entered through the handset transmitter are detected by the Model 592. Upon detection of a coin tone simulation, the Model 592 mutes the telephone handset until the station goes back on hook, at which time the Model 592 automatically resets.
