TEK Z-Radio System
The Z-Radio
System offers the versatility you need to go the distance!
The most recently developed active
RFID products manufactured by TEK are the Z-Radio Modules. TEK’s
system of three radio modules provide a ready-made platform for applications using the ZigBee Stack. Each
module includes a complete 2.4GHz radio with antenna and flash based
microcontroller. A Microchip ICD2 port on a mini Molex 5-pin header allows for firmware loading and debugging.

Z-TAG
(Round Tag)
This compact 1.4” diameter PCB includes a holder for a single 3V
lithium coin cell. The Z-TAG is intended as a complete minimal
low power radio module for monitoring or active tagging
applications. It has CC2420 plus PIC18LF2520 in a tiny package with
ceramic antenna. This runs the 3.5 stack with enough resources for a
basic RFD. The Z-TAG has three spare IO lines brought to a header
for remote control or monitoring applications. The tag can easily
accommodate a memory
size of 128Kbytes.

Z-USB
(Radio to USB Interface)
This is a USB interface for connecting the radio network to a laptop
or
PC. It’s designed to fit into a readily available small Hammond
plastic enclosure, available in either black or grey finish. The PCB
is 1.1” x 2.1". A mini-USB port is built into the board for easy
networking with a computer or PC. Using the FTDI FT232R chip, PIC
18LF2620 and CC2420, the Z-USB can run the Microchip 3.5 stack
coordinator or RFD and is self-powered from the USB. Use with a
standard mini-USB cable.

Z-LINK
(Radio Link – Repeater)
This is a slightly larger PCB, measuring 3.3” x 2.2". It has a
battery holder for 3xAA cells on the back and a DC supply jack. The
Z-LINK uses the
PIC18F66J10 plus CC2420, folded PCB dipole antenna, regulated power
supply with either 3xAA Alkaline primary cells, or NICADs. DC input
for battery charging. The Z-Link also has an
RS232
interface and fits into a readily available Hammond enclosure.
The Z-LINK is primarily intended as a FFD/coordinator for mesh network to extend
range of the other modules, but would make a fine platform for
general purpose use where the larger size battery, more interfaces
and large program memory is required. The Z-LINK can run RFD, FFD,
Coordinator, or Router. PIC is a trademark of Microchip
Technology Inc.
