Red Box Fraud

TEK Model 1192 Anti-Fraud Amplifier

Do you think that Red Box fraud is not popular anymore? Try doing a search of the internet for pages with Red Box and you will find hundreds of sites that give detailed instructions on building a Red Box device, places to purchase a Red Box, and even ways to fraud electronic operators. Coin call fraud is still very extensive and very expensive for payphone providers.

The Model 1192 prevents fraudulent coin calls attempted by a Red Box device by continuously monitoring the handset to detect Red Box generated coin tones. When a coin tone simulation is detected, the Model 1192 opens the transmitter leads while generating a 400 Hz high pitch squeal tone until the station goes back on-hook, at which time the Model 1192 automatically resets. Red Box fraud can occur at stations for months and be completely undetected unless the Model 1192 is installed.

Fraud Attempt Counter

The Model 1192 is equipped with fraud attempt counter software which accurately tracks the number of fraud attempts made on the phone. This information can be collected identifying your phones that have been subject to fraud attempts allowing you to maximize station revenues and profits by reducing fraudulent coin calls.

Pin Fraud Option

The Model 1192 prevents fraudulent calls attempted through the use of a pin or metal object commonly referred to as Pin Fraud. When a metal object is inserted in specific parts of the handset, and electrical short to ground condition is created allowing for calls to be completed without payment. The Model 1192 will detect this condition and open the mouthpiece connection while generating a 500 Hz high pitch squeal tone. The Model 1192 automatically resets when the station goes back on-hook.

The Model 1192 features a side tone adjustment to provide the best possible call quality to your customers. The side tone adjustment feature is conveniently controlled in the field from the dip switch settings on the amplifier module. The Model 1192 provides the standard setting and a high noise setting for busy roadside installations or noisy environments. The side tone adjustment feature optimizes call quality for your payphone leading to increased usage and higher revenue.

The TEK Model 1192 Anti-Fraud Amplifier is available in kits with the TEK Loud Buttons or as a stand-alone module.

TEK Pager Access Controllers

TEK 892 Pager Access Controller

CRIMINAL USE OF YOUR PAYPHONE COSTS YOU MONEY!

Tek Pager Access Controllers

Criminals commonly employ the use of payphones and pagers as a way of communicating to conduct illegal activities. The combination of payphones and pagers provides criminals with an untraceable communication network to operate their illegal transactions or acts.

Criminals tend to repeatedly use the same payphone stations to operate their illegal businesses. These payphones and enclosures experience a dramatic increase in vandalism which costs the station owner money. Criminals spend hours at your payphone receiving incoming calls which prevents legitimate revenue producing calls.

INCREASE STATION REVENUES AND FIGHT CRIME!

Installing the TEK Model 892 Pager Access Controller helps to prevent criminal activity from taking place at you payphone station by restricting access to pager systems and keeps your station collection revenue from outgoing calls. The Model 892 is a line powered device which is conveniently field installable and mounts in the upper housing of the payphone.

When installed, the TEK Model 892 is active for the entire duration of every call. After a user dials a phone number, there is a momentary loss of talk power. The Model 892 detects this condition and disables the keypad for the remainder of the call to prevent access to a pager system. The Model 892 automatically resets after the station goes back on hook for 3 seconds.

The Model 892 also monitors the handset to detect DTMF tones attempting to be entered through the transmitter. To restrict this activity, the Model 892 mutes the transmitter for 15 seconds preventing DTMF tones from being entered to restrict access to a pager system. The Model 892 automatically enables the transmitter after 15 seconds and will continue monitoring for DTMF tones until the station goes back on hook for 3 seconds.

TEK 592 Red Box Detector

Tek 592 Red Box Detector

The Model 592 Red Box Detector continuously monitors the handset to detect Red Box generated coin tones. The Model 592 is a line powered device which typically installs in the upper housing of the payphone. When installed, the Model 592 will prevent fraudulent coin calls attempted with a Red Box device.

Red Box Devices Are Everywhere

Red Box fraud is still very popular. In fact, a search of the internet for pages with Red Box will reveal hundreds of sites that include detailed instructions on how to build a Red Box, places to purchase a Red Box, and even ways to fraud electronic operators. Coin call fraud remains very extensive and very expensive for payphone providers.

STOP RED BOX FRAUD AND INCREASE REVENUES!

The Model 592 Red Box Detector is active for the entire duration of every call. Any coin tone simulations that are attempted to be entered through the handset transmitter are detected by the Model 592. Upon detection of a coin tone simulation, the Model 592 mutes the telephone handset until the station goes back on hook, at which time the Model 592 automatically resets.
